This would also then allow us to submit proposals for works which the rangers could then approve and we then organise to do it. At first there would still be a ranger present during works but in due course when we have a proven record of working to IMBA guidelines and/or have IMBA trained people working with us this may be not as necessary.
The Northside Trail Care Alliance is more or less just a mail list at this stage. It would not be a legal entity or organised club as such. It’s basically just for the sake of giving our group of volunteers an identity. There would be no fees or dues or anything along those lines, but perhaps we would accept donations if there ever came a time where we might need tools or materials that QPWS were unable to provide.
It has been suggested that we might even form teams with designated team leaders to look after specific areas such as Bunya & Samford. That way people who might have a greater passion for a particular area can ensure they’re not being left out.
I put my hand up to act as the mouthpiece/go-between to get things kicked off but if someone else wants to have a crack to lead this to greater things, or to organise a meeting to better formalise things and elect president & secretary etc, by all means please let me know. My plan at this stage is just to get a list of email addresses of people who want to be involved in trail care and then keep everyone informed of what’s going on and get feedback and suggestions for what you think needs doing.
Please email me at [email protected] if you’d like your name in the list. (Put "Northside Trail Care Alliance" as the email subject).
